On September 29th of 2005, the world watched a dramatic spectacle unfolding as many hundreds of would-be immigrants from all over Africa charged barbed wire fences surrounding the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla in a desperate attempt to enter Europe. Dozens of immigrants were shot dead, others were rounded up, put in trucks, and shipped off and left in the desert with no food, water, or shelter. These events highlighted the growing need for the European Union to actively meet and preserve human rights all across its borders. 6 Years later, EU goverments still focus on raising walls, investing their financial and military resources in militarizing the borders, causing more fatal casualties than ever before.
On September 29th of 2011, we will publish our final release of FRONTIERS - it is dedicated to the all those heros out there, immigrants around the world, who risked and continue to risk their lifes for a better future.
